Throughout 2013 we were involved in production of the popular BBC series 'Tudor Monastery Farm',where presenters, Ruth Goodman, Peter Ginn and Tom Pinfold spent a year experiencing life on a monastic farm in the early 1500s. The Crafty Beggars provided the hats which were hand-felted in natural colours and sun hats that were woven in fresh water bulrush. We also performed as musicians in episodes 2,6 and the Christmas Special. website The Crafty Beggars The crafty Beggars: makers of handcrafted historical hats, traditional crafts and performers of Period Music The Crafty Beggars - Rachel Frost Rachel Frost graduated from Edinburgh College of art with an honours degree in Model Animation. After initially working for Jim Hensons Creature shop, she set up her own business called The Crafty Beggars, providing hand crafted items for the Heritage sector. Rachel later formed the performance group 'Cornucopia' who provide period music with puppets. Her hand-felted hats are held in collections world wide. Recent clients include the Globe Theatre (for the 2012 season’s Richard III and Twelth Night ) and the recent BBC Television series 'Tudor Monastery Farm'. She is a member of the Incorporation of Bonnetmakers & Dyers of Edinburgh and in 2009 she recieved the Janet Arnold award for costume study.
