Our hats were hand-felted and naturally dyed using colours that were developed in a sister project in collaboration with fellow dyer, Helen Melvin. The most elaborate hat was then further 'thrummed' to create a rich, silk pile on the surface made from thousands of tiny hand- stitched silk thread loops. A labour intensive technique that took over 100 hours to complete for the stitching alone. 100hrs work on the silk stitching alone for of the one hats for the Globe Theatre The elaborately ‘thrumbed’ hat for the Globe Hats featured at London’s Globe and West End Theatres .. and in the Broadway transfer  *Click on images to enlarge
